It's Raining Cohen

Here is a silly little "poem" that sounds sort of like a Dr. Suess kids' book about LC. It can't be considered real poetry, so I was hesitant to post it on the "Leonard Cohen Files" fan forum Poetry section. I had all these words floating around in my head about Leonard and they just sort of oozed out onto a piece of scrap paper one day. Would make a great illustrated children's book for grownups maybe. (I'll do that if I get around to it) ---Rain

Enjoy.....or throw up...whichever comes first:

It's Raining Cohen

(For LC)

It's raining Cohen,

That cello voice bowin'*

Vibrate, vibrate.....hum....

It's raining Cohen,

The showman's still showin'

Six encores before he is done

Some women are falling,

To their knees at his calling

The "old guy" still casting his spell...

The concert show seat,

Will tremble beneath

That which is risque to tell.....

It's raining Cohen,

His guitar fingers flowin'

Strumming, strumming, strum.....

It's raining Cohen,

Deep chest rumble goin'

Drumming, drumming, drum.....

When children can't sleep,

Wise mothers will keep

His voice playing constant and low

Like that of the womb,

The heartbeating tune

Has the power to soothe a small soul

It's raining Cohen,

On fans at the Forum

Gathering one by one.....

It's raining Cohen,

New Jerusalem's glowin'*

Hallelujah forever, it's come.....

Now it's raining and blowin'

And Montreal's snowin'

But I'm warm and I'll be asleep soon,

For tonight I am knowin'

My memorized Cohen

As he lullabies me with the moon.....
